SME Conference 2013: Sneak peak 2

Continuing with our sneak peak, here are the major players for the second session of what we have planned for you at the #SMEConference2013:

Speaking on "Innovative Approaches to Expanding Financial Access", we have hot seat panelists from the various banking sectors that are relevant to this topic, and would enlighten us all on what we need for our businesses.

Chima Nnadozie represents Diamond Bank, a known supporter of MSME in Nigeria. Diamond Bank is known for their support of small businesses, up to the tune of N70 billion in the last four years, and Chima Nnadozie is the Head of MSME Propositions in the bank.

Kunle Oketikun, the MD/CEO of Fortis Microfinance Bank, has over 20 years experience in Banking. He has competencies acquired in senior positions within Retail, Corporate and Investment Banking from Standard Trust Bank (Now UBA), Lead bank Plc and Ecobank Nig Plc.

Prior to Fortis, he was responsible for Ecobank's branches in Abuja and the Northern states. He was the pioneer Executive Director, Operations and Risk Management in Fortis Microfinance Bank, before being appointed Managing Director/CEO. He holds a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance and is an Associate member of various professional associations including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB), Institute of Cost Management (ICM) and Chartered Institute of Management (ACIM).

Mr. Oludare Talabi has a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Igbinedion University Okada and an MBA from the Lagos Business School of Pan-African University. Mr. Talabi is a very entrepreneurial individual, he began his diverse entrepreneurial career when he was an undergraduate student by distributing Christian music. Since then, he has developed a broad range of experience along diversified business lines such as food and beverage, lime stone mining, equipment leasing and business consulting.

Mr. Talabi started his career at Demont Chemical Industries as an Accountant and also performed the role of a personal assistant to the Managing Director before attaining an MBA where he gained experience as a business analyst. Mr. Talabi has attended several business and management training seminars. He was a member of the team that provided business consulting services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria under a global initiative of the Goldman Sachs Group in partnership with the Centre for Enterprise Development Services (CEDS) for 10,000 women entrepreneurs.

As a business consultant, Mr. Talabi has been involved in the preparation of several business plans for business owners involved in food and beverage, generator distribution, online education and heavy equipment importation businesses. Mr. Talabi is currently the managing director of TALION Capital and Consulting, a firm dedicated to providing support for entrepreneurial growth and development as well as wealth creation.

Bayo Ogunnusi, Group Head of SME in Heritage Bank Company Limited is also a participant. The Heritage Bank Company Limited's vision declares the bank as a tenacious team, committed to delivering distinctive financial services, building on our legacy of innovation and partnership to create, preserve and transfer wealth across generations.

The session will be moderated by Mope Abudu, a veteran in the shaping of SME advisory and Business Support services, with about twenty years experience in accounting and management, with several organizations in the United Kingdom, the United States and here in Nigeria. She is currently the Head of NEXTZON's Institutionalization and Small Business Advisory practice, where are focus is on the provision of institutionalization and capacity development services to unstructured and growing SMEs, while working closely with other practitioners in the SME space e.g EDC [that's us!] of the Pan-Atlantic University, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency [SMEDAN], and Bank of Industry [BOI].
