GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK [GEW] ABROAD


The Global Entrepreneurship Week [GEW] starts 18th of November and concludes on the 24th of November this year, globally. With over 140 countries participating, it will definitely be a time to remember and cherish wherever you are in the world!

Last year some activities were launched and it really had a great impact on the participants and this year, some will be launched in new countries. This year, the grand finale will be held at Moscow, Russia. The best of the best will be the contestants for great prices, experiences, networking opportunities etc.

Some of the activities planned globally include:

STARTUP OPEN
Startups launched since GEW 2012, from more than 60 countries, compete for a free trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Moscow and mentoring prizes with experienced entrepreneurs. Startups in 30 countries are pitching their way to the Netherlands for a shot at up to €1,000,000 in the global finals of Get in the Ring during Global Entrepreneurship Week this November.
They will be hoping to score a knockout punch similar to Risparmio Super, a web-based startup that compares grocery store prices all over Italy, who was crowned the champion in 2012. The Italian startup defeated challengers from sixteen countries. This year, the number of participating countries has almost doubled as promising startups in 30 countries began competing in July for their national finals.

GLOBAL STARTUP BATTLE
Founder teams in 200 cities go through intense 54-hour Startup Weekend boot camps to create their own startup and compete against one another in a virtual Global Startup Battle.
Powered by Startup Weekend's global facilitators and local organizers around the world, developers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts gather together for 54 hours to share ideas and launch new startups. Beginning with open pitches on Friday, attendees in dozens of cities will hone in on the most promising concepts with teams focusing on customer development, idea validation and creating a viable product. By Sunday evening, teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts–competing for prizes that help speed them to launch.

GET IN THE RING
Debuting in the United States this year and hosted in the Netherlands, entrepreneurs present their business plans to investors in an effort to secure up to €1,000,000 in startup capital.

The Investment Battle is the international competition of Get in the Ring, where entrepreneurs try to secure their investment of up to €1,000,000. The battle takes place between July and November, with the grand finale during the Global Entrepreneurship Week in the Netherlands on the 22nd of November 2013.
The Investment Battle consists of three rounds and is organised in collaboration with many international partners. During the first round, called The Nationals, national hosts are responsible for the selection of the best entrepreneurs in their country. Next, the selected entrepreneurs will present their company during the second round, The International Clash, at the "Sprout Challengerday". A panel of experienced investors, together with the visitors of the "Sprout Challengerday", one of the biggest entrepreneurship events in the Netherlands, will have the final vote . They will decide which eight entrepreneurs get the chance to pitch in front of four international Champions at the final of Get in the Ring.

GEW POLICY SURVEY
The GEW Policy Survey assesses the public policies most essential to encouraging startups to launch and
scale. Survey results will guide the development of a number of policy summits in participating countries.

CREATIVE BUSINESS CUP
New and revolutionary business ideas with strong market potential in the creative industries from more than 25 countries square off in the global finals in Copenhagen, Denmark.

STARTUP CUP
StartUp Cup is a global network of locally driven business model competitions where participants learn how to design a viable business model, develop customers, test their assumptions and grow their business revenue.

CLEANTECH OPEN GLOBAL IDEAS COMPETITION
Finalists from more than 20 countries unveil potential breakthrough "cleantech" ideas in one of six industry categories; air water and waste, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building, smart power and transportation.

GLOBAL STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS
Students who own and run businesses while attending a high school, college or university battle for the title of Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year and their share of more than $150,000 in business support services.
