WIA2013 Day 1 Session 1: Communicating for Change/Public Space: Getting it Done

It has been realized that over the years, Africa recorded progress in economic and social development, improving the status of women, consolidating democracy and the creation of institutions to unite and develop Africa. However, women are still not a prominent force in politics although it is politics that shape our environment and it is through public policy that we can actually effect the greatest change. In this session, we will explore the current role and involvement of women in politics and public policy as well as the obstacles hindering female participation in the public space.
