The Market Access Nigeria(M.A.N) PH Edition, was held at The Hotel Presidential, GRA Phase 2, PMB 5141, Aba Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on the 11th of october 2013.

The Program started by 10:30am with singing the National Anthem and Mr. Tari Ekiyor's welcome speech. In his speech, he talked about the idea of the event- for small and growing businesses, labeling networking as the basic idea behind the growth of small businesses and he required the delegates to engage in three(3) minutes of speed networking within the hall.

This year's event started with Mr. Tari Ekiyor calling Mr. Monday Ewans (Deputy Director, Strategy and Planning and coordination for SMEDAN), Chima Nnadozie (Head, MSME Propositions, Diamond Bank) and Chris Akubuiro (GM MultiMesh Communications Ltd) to panel for an open Q&A session with the delegates.

Mr. Monday Ewans appreciated the delegates for attending the event and talked about how small and growing businesses can benefit from SMEDAN as the institution is in the process of making possible the economic factors that will aid in the growth of small businesses. He added that SMEDAN has created offices around the country from which they can be accessed with no discrimination against business holders and issues relating with taxes for businesses are usually streamlined. He also stated that "the reason 70% of enterprises 'die' before reaching their 5th anniversary is poor networking". He added that SMEDAN has simplified lending processes for VERIFIED businesses and encouraged participants to visit the SMEDAN website for more details (www.smedan.gov.ng").

Mr. Chima Nnadozie said that Diamond Bank has a special focus for SME and that accounts have been set up for SME. He assured the delegates that networking events for SME are held regularly, sponsored by Diamond Bank, and indicated that businesses must be registered and functional for one year before loans could be given out to them. Also, stating that loans will be given out if and only the client has a deposit or a collateral as a form of commitment and also, loans will be giving out to 'verified' businesses only.

Last to speak was Chris Akubuiro (GM, MultiMesh Communications Ltd) who kicked of his speech by offering a 50% discount for small business owners looking to advertise on Family Love F.M Abuja and PHC. Closing his speech, he said "regardless of how much money you have there will be no progress with little or no communication".

Finally, Mrs Ben Oshe was called to give a brief speech on how skill acquisition and manpower development can be achieved by participating in the NYSC program.

A pitching session was held with Leroy Baaker, Udu Aniche, Christian Chigbu, Maureen Benson and Esther Ojiadi, with Mr. Christian and Maureen Benson emerging winners. The winners were offered transportation discounts of their goods around the country and motivational gifts.
