Founder, Women in Africa Forum

Sarah Mercer is a former Olympic gymnast (Barcelona ’92) competing for Great Britain. She was also a 5-time British Champion between 1988 and 1992 and was also World Junior Champion in 1989.
Following her career as a gymnast, Sarah starred in several commercials for Martini, Adidas and Secret and worked as a performer for the BBC.

She also pioneered Fun Schools and Get Fit Kids in the UK alongside the Harlem Globetrotters.



Sarah is the Founder and CEO of the Women in Africa Forum (WIA) and also serves as Vice President of Africa Recovery. Previously, she was Director of Business Development at Forward Networking, an event management and business development consulting firm. Sarah is the lead organizer for the inaugural Women in Leadership Forum for Africa, her own brainchild, alongside the United Nations and International Labour Organization.

Sarah’s clients include well-known companies including Microsoft, Kuwait Oil Company, Goldman Sachs, Sabanci and Etisalat. Sarah also served as a consultant for American Express in their Centurion Card division, based at their European Headquarters in the UK. She holds a Diploma in Social Sciences and International Relations from the University of Brighton, UK.
